Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging- Mission Statement

The primary mission of the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging is to administer and develop a program of comprehensive community services for the elderly. The main focus concentrates on:

• service as a community planning agency to improve the services available for the elderly

• acting as an advocate for the elderly

• providing services which help the elderly remain in their homes as long as possible

• assisting the older person to remain active as a citizen in their community.

All persons age sixty and over who reside in Jefferson County may participate in the wide range of programs that are funded by the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging. However, federal regulations require the agency to give preference to those older adults who are having the greatest economic and social need in the county first.
