Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging is one of the 52 Area Agencies in Pennsylvania.
Our mission is to develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive support system for older people in Jefferson County.
The main focus concentrates on:
service as a community planning agency to improve the services available for the elderly
acting as an advocate for the elderly
providing services which help the elderly remain in their homes as long as possible
assisting the older person to remain active as a citizen in their community.
All persons age sixty and over who reside in Jefferson County may participate in the wide range of programs that are funded by the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging. However, federal regulations require the agency to give preference to those older adults who are having the greatest economic and social need in the county first.
The JCAAA is the local representative for the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, and it offers many services and programs designed to keep older citizens active and independent.
Although the JCAAA operates for charitable and educational purposes, federal regulations mandate that the Agency give preference to those older adults with greatest economic and social needs.
