Spelling Bee Contest

On March 26, 2008 the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging held a Spelling Bee Contest.  Six contestants competed in the contest where words like "leguminous" and "aqueduct" narrowed the field to two final contestants.  Lena Wright of Punxsutawney ultimately prevailed, winning on the word "digitalis".  Don Burkett of Brookville put in a good showing, placing second in a very difficult contest.

Congratulations to our Winners!!

Mission Statement

Thank you for visiting our website. This is a very exciting time for us at the Agency. Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging. We are pleased to share information via the Internet about our Agency and all the different services and activities we provide for our older citizens of Jefferson County. We have also included a listing of service provides for Nursing Facilities, Dom Care Homes, and Personal Care Homes that operate throughout the county. Each one of our 5 Older American Social Centers have their own web pages where you can find information about the center and all the different activities that take place at the center. Our monthly newsletter, the Sunshine Line, is also on our website.

This is a new "spotlight" we will be doing monthly, rotating to a different center every month.

Heritage House Center Volunteer's of the Month is:

I would like to thank the volunteers that I have now for all the hard work they do.  They are the greatest gift next to the people that come and use the center on a regular basis.  In one way or another everybody that comes to Heritage House is a volunteer.  So please give yourself a pat on the back and a round of applause.

Heritage House Center is In Memory of:

Robert McManigle

Remember the days gone by when we had the 50 cup coffee pot -- that was Bob!  He was Pauline's escort around the building during the beginning of "PEPPI".  He made sure that the PEPPI chairs were set up and ready for class.  He would get the USA Today every morning for "The Knights of the Round Table"/  He also did the lunch dishes everyday.  And he always knew where the comfy chair was in front of the television.  Thanks for the great memories.  And thank you to everyone that helped the center get the new television and stand in memory of Robert "Bob" McManigle.
